Thanksgiving Weekend

11/25/2011

_Hi All!

First, to all who celebrated, hope you, your families and friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  It's hard to believe the turkey and the Macy's parade are already done!

Thanks so much to everyone that has already tuned in!  We now have listeners in 49 states, Washington DC and 80 other countries!  If you know someone in Alaska, give them a nudge to listen so next week we can say we have all of the United States!

We're still loading music, including new Christmas singles from Natasha Bedingfield, Cyndi Lauper (with Norah Jones), Paul Anka, Bowling For Soup and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals (just to mention a few)  Closing in on 2000 songs, and it seems like I'm just scratching the surface!

This coming week, I'll be bringing back a couple special shows, and adding something new!

Weekdays at noon (Eastern), it's the return of the All Request Hour.  So if there's something you want to hear, make sure you send an email to me (or comment below), and I'll do my best to get it on for you!

Weekday evenings at 7:00pm (Eastern), it's the New Music Hour, featuring an entire hour of the latest Christmas releases!

And starting Monday, each weekday we'll be spotlighting the Stars of the Sounds of Christmas, featuring songs from the singers and bands that have supported us for the last five years, along with those who are helping to make this year's broadcast possible!  You can hear the Stars of the Sounds of Christmas each weekday at 1:00am and 7:00am, and 1:00pm and 7:00pm (all times Eastern)!

It looks like this week's Top Ten is once again completely different from last week's.  Pretty soon, I expect the Top Ten will change almost every day!

If you want to help and rate the music we play, you actually have to go through Live 365, which you can get to by going here --> http://www.live365.com/stations/soundsofchristmas

I also wanted to mention that whether you listen through our website here or over at Live 365, you don't have to stay on the page.  If you click on the little double box in the upper right hand corner, the player will pop out, so you can go wherever you want on the web and still listen to the Sounds of Christmas!

So with all that said, here's this week's Top Ten...

1) The Embers "I Love Christmas Music”

2)  Vanessa Peters "The Christmas We Hoped For”

3)  Cheap Trick "Come On Christmas”

4)  Carolyn Sills "George Bailey”

_Hi All!

It's hard to believe we're less than a week away from Thanksgiving already!  I know for many, that's the point when they're ready for Christmas music.  At least, that's the popular line a lot of people like to say.

Well, there certainly are a lot in the other group, the ones who are ready to listen to Christmas music right now!  We're off to another record-breaking season, with listeners in 48 states, Washington DC and 62 other countries!  By the way, the two hold-out states are Vermont and Alaska, so feel free to pester any friends you have there so we can have all of the United States by Thanksgiving!

We're still loading music, and probably will continue to do that way into December.  Over 1300 songs are in rotation now, though, and there are thousands more on the way!

It looks like this week's Top Ten (which is actually a Top Twenty, since we have such a huge library) is completely different from last week's.

1) Ben E. King "The Christmas Song”

2)  Harry Connick Jr. "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year”

3)  James Brown "Santa Claus, Santa Claus”

4)  The Motels "Santa Baby”

5)  She and Him "Little Saint Nick”

6)  The Drifters "White Christmas”

7)  The Pretenders "Happy Christmas”

8) James Taylor "Deck The Halls”

9)  BarlowGirl "Carol Of The Bells/Sing We Now Of Christmas”

10)  Bryan Adams "Christmas Time”

11)  Belinda Carlisle "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”

12)  Tina Lambert "O Christmas Tree"

13)  Blondie "We Three Kings”

14)  Michael Keaton "Frosty the Snowman”

15)  Trans-Siberian Orchestra "Promises To Keep”

16)  Stevie Wonder "Silver Bells”

17)  Marshall Crenshaw "Santa Bring My Baby Back To Me”

18)  Lisa Kessler "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer”

19)  Vincent Poag "This Christmas”

20)  Johnny Cash "The ChristmasSpRichard Kincaid “Magic Holiday”

Yes, I know there are twenty.  Since we play so much more Christmas music than anyone else, I just thought our Top Ten list should be bigger, too!
